Overview

The Allina Health Cancer Institute plans each year this one-day Breast Health Conference with specialists from multiple fields presenting information about current breast health and the care of patients. Breast cancer represents a complicated family of diseases for which detection, diagnosis, and multimodal management strategies are continually evolving.

Our 2027 planning committee collaborated to provide deeper knowledge and bring together experts to discuss genetics, radiation therapy, breast reconstruction with lumpectomy, physiotherapy, imaging of the reconstructed breast, provider conversation, along with panel discussions and Q&A.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Apply current hereditary breast cancer risk assessment principles, family history screening approaches, and germline genetic testing guidelines to identify patients who may benefit from genetic evaluation, enhanced surveillance, and risk reduction interventions.
  2. Assess the clinical applications, prognostic significance, and limitations of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and minimal residual disease (MRD) testing to support evidence-based treatment planning and monitoring across the breast cancer continuum.
  3. Differentiate the indications, benefits, and limitations of emerging breast imaging modalities and contemporary oncoplastic surgical techniques to optimize cancer detection, surgical outcomes, and patient centered treatment decisions.
  4. Integrate patient perspectives, values, and quality of life considerations into clinical discussions and treatment planning to enhance patient engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes in breast cancer care.
  5. Collaborate effectively with radiologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, genetic specialists, nurses, technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to implement evidence based, coordinated breast cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment strategies.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
