Overview
3.18.2026 Presentation that provides targeted education to Allina's oncology multidisciplinary team to facilitate high quality evidence based patient care in the constantly changing and evolving colorectal oncology landscape. Discussion that touches on the rise of colon cancer in young adults and covers updates to guidelines, diagnostics, therapeutics, and management that impact expected patient outcomes.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe current epidemiologic trends in colorectal cancer, including changes in incidence, mortality, and agerelated patterns in the United States.
  2. Identify major risk factors for colorectal cancer development and understand lifestyle, dietary, and microbiome related contributors.
  3. Explain the recommended diagnostic workup and initial management for patients newly diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
  4. Summarize updates in adjuvant therapy for colon cancer, including key considerations when counseling patients about treatment options.
  5. Discuss the emerging role of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in the adjuvant setting, including its benefits, limitations, and implications for surveillance and imaging.
