Center for Provider Well-being - Peer Support Facilitator Training 2026

Interested in becoming a Well-Being Ambassador to facilitate Refuel Groups? This course will help outline what is all entailed when refuel groups are held by ambassadors for Center for Provider Well-being. Provide resources that will be helpful for hosting Refuel groups and offer support. Refuel Groups are the CPWB version of Commensality Groups, an evidence-based peer support approach. Commensality Groups are an evidence-based intervention shown to increase the sense of connection and collegiality among providers and build comradery and meaning in work. By providing protected time for facilitated small-group discussion, improvements can be made across various dimensions of provider well-being, including meaning, empowerment, engagement in work and reduction of stress. Although this model seems simple, randomized trials in physicians have demonstrated that this approach improves professional fulfillment and reduces burnout.

1. Explain the importance of peer support.
2. Describe the different types of peer support.
3. Engage in effective listening techniques.
4. Facilitate conversation in a group setting.
5. Practice presentation techniques.
